What is a FTE (Full-Time Equivalent)?

A Full Time Equivalent (or FTE) is a unit of measurement of labour costs frequently used in management.

The FTE makes it possible to evaluate the wage roll or the workforce of the enterprise in a homogeneous way by comparing the time worked by each employee to that of a full-time employee.

• 1 FTE = 1 full-time employee
• 0.5 FTE = 1 part-time employee
• 1.5 FTE = 1 full-time employee + 1 part-time employee
• Etc.
